Project Description

Shanghai Pudong International Airport

Client: Shanghai International Airport Co., Ltd

Over the course of this project the L&B team worked with the Shanghai Pudong operational commissioning teams in several ways. By first creating an Inception Report, we identified critical, necessary and desirable activities essential to terminal operation readiness. Based on meetings with the Terminal Construction Department and IT Department of the Headquarter office, we understood the terminal master program schedule.

The partnership between airport senior management and team leaders and L&B’s experts allowed for the intensive analysis and assessment of T2 signage, ultimately helping to identify signage issues and solutions to improve passenger flow.

Multiple observations in the days and weeks following the T2 opening showed that Shanghai Pudong International Airport Terminal 2 opened successfully with all key processing functions operating smoothly and efficiently.

From systematic assessments of passenger flows to impromptu surveys on passengers and passenger facilities, including traditional check-in, kiosk check-in, baggage drop-off, and security screening, among others, L&B was thorough in both reporting and presentation.

Passenger service and facility performance in T2 steadily increased enabling Shanghai Pudong International Airport to meet even greater demand of annual passenger throughput, and achieve its goals to become an international gateway airport in Asia Pacific.
